<p>Today, June 1ˢᵗ (AoE¹), is the final day to submit talk proposals for
most tracks² at <a href="https://2026.fossy.ca/">FOSSY’26</a> (Free and
Open Source Software Yearly). FOSSY is a wide-reaching conference for
any topics related to the creation, improvement, advocacy, and impact of
Free and Open Source software — at all levels (from new user to
experienced developer). We welcome speakers from all backgrounds and
with all levels of speaking experience.</p>
<p>To submit a proposal, <a
href="https://2026.fossy.ca/call-for-proposals/">create a profile on the
FOSSY website</a>. The CfP <strong>closes today at the end of the
day</strong>¹.</p>
<p>SFC will host this fourth edition of our community oriented
conference from August 6–9th in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We will have 5
rooms with <a href="https://2026.fossy.ca/pages/tracks/">10+ tracks of
talks over 3 days</a>. Many of the tracks are community-run (similar to
<a
href="https://fosdem.org/2026/news/2025-10-31-devrooms-announced/">the
DevRooms at FOSDEM</a>.</p>
<p>Now is a great time to purchase your <a
href="https://2026.fossy.ca/attend/tickets/">tickets for FOSSY’26</a>,
and <a href="https://2026.fossy.ca/travel/">book a room in our
discounted room block</a>. Accomodation options range from the
budget-minded to the luxurious: the university residences offer single
private rooms with shared bathrooms, all they way up to fancy suites!
The room block remains open for another month, but it is likely to sell
