I spent one minute on a web search for openwrt and github and I found
specific practical concerns. So I wonder why you haven't found any. Did
you try?

The first result I found when looking up this issue was an OpenWRT
decision maker who said there are ethical problems with github. Why do
you think that? It doesn't look that way to me.
