[FOSSY-attendees] Complete Corresponding Summary of day 4 - EOF
FOSSY Organizing Team
conference at sfconservancy.org
Mon Aug 4 02:23:15 UTC 2025
After four days of community building, technical discussions, and a
plethora of new ideas from the hallway; it's with a heavy heart that we
bid adieu to Portland. Thank you to all (over 200!!) of you that came to
#FOSSY25. We hope to see you all in Vancouver, British Columbia, August
6-9th, 2026, at the University of British Columbia!
Thanks to OpenSignal for the great keynote conversation about their FOSS
stack, pushing back against industry standards and all their incredible
work with AV this week. And a big thank you to SFC board chair Allison
Randall for her great emceeing this weekend.
The lightning talks were such a blast, including impressive
presentations from high school students from The Institute for Computing
in Research about radio interferometry, signal analysis of BLE devices
for better safety, quantum computing and gravitational waves. And also
talks about Linux control characters, a nice break to do some
stretching, and storytelling to teach and convince people about using
FOSS.
The Unconference was also a great success, thanks to our hosts Aaron
and Salt. There was such a wide range of topics and we thank you all
participated for sharing your passion and expertise with us all. Ending
the weekend of planned talks, with ideas that we were inspired to share
was a really great way to round out the schedule.
We'll be sending out a survey later this week, and your response helps
us make the conference better and appeal to sponsors! There might even
be a little surprise in the survey if you fill it out ;)
Thank you so much for making this conference possible, we'll see you
next year in Vancouver, BC!
-FOSSY Organizing Team and all of Software Freedom Conservancy
