[FOSSY-attendees] Complete Corresponding Summary of day 3 - Join the Fedi!

FOSSY Organizing Team conference at sfconservancy.org
Sun Aug 9 01:18:34 UTC 2026

While FOSSY continues into tomorrow, today is the conclusion of Fedicon!
Thanks to the organizers and participants (especially remote
participants who were patient with the streaming) for making it such an
incredible track. It's such an amazing time to be joining and using the
fediverse as more and more people (and technologies) join the ecosystem.

### Sunday Morning

Tomorrow, registration will be open at 9:00am, and continental breakfast
will be available in KAIS 2020/2030 starting at 9:15am. Come early and
grab a bite and some caffeine so you can make it over to ESB 1013 for
the...

### Keynote!

Tomorrow's keynote is an open discussion about LLM generative AI and how
we as a community can organize and respond to the potential and harms of
such technology. Join us to participate in a conversation in a
collaborative keynote. We're excited to explore the range of opinions
that attendees have and to listen and learn together. While we expect
the conversation to perhaps get a little spicy, we look forward to
respectful dialog. We'll be doing our best to make sure everyone can be
heard. So think ahead about how to concisely state your ideas!

We will also be presenting an "In Memorium" for a couple of the members
of the FOSS community we've lost this past year. Please let us know if
you want to speak for a minute or two about someone in FOSS who passed
away recently who you think we should add.

### Next Year

We'll be sending out a survey after FOSSY to hear what you thought of
this year's conference and what you thought of our location here at UBC,
so give us your feedback to help us plan what's next for FOSSY in 2027!

### Tracks

Huge thanks to the organizers of Fedicon; two great days of talks,
amazing conversations, and connections made in person. The AI and XMPP
tracks continue tomorrow in the same rooms. Closing out the conference
are the Science of Community, FOSS in Daily Life, and Wild Card tracks.

### Schedule

We'll have printed schedules at registration in the morning, but you can
also find out what's happening the rest of the day online (we're aware
of a heisenbug bug that presents the calendar dates in rotating
languages, it goes back eventually - today we saw German!)

https://2026.fossy.ca/schedule/#sunday

### OpenWrt One

There are still a few OpenWrt Ones for sale! As a Software Freedom
Conservancy project, each sale gives a US$10 donation to the project to
support further development and sustain the project. Find us at the
registration desk in the Kaiser atrium to purchase one or get more
information.

### FOSS Users e.V.

An SFC volunteer has started a consumers association in Germany, which
anyone from any country is free and welcome to join. We need just 5
more people to signup to meet our target! Nothing is required after you
signup and it's free to become a member - by signing up you are simply
indicating you'd like copyleft to be enforced. We encourage you to join
tomorrow using the forms as the registration desk. Or you can fill out
and mail the form yourself. [0]

### Quiet Room

There is a quiet room located in KAIS 3028 for those who wish to have a
limited stimulus environment. It is open during the conference hours
9:00-18:30.

### Social Media

Thank you for sharing so much about the event today on social media!
Please keep contributing any highlights or photos (with proper
permission and licensing) tagged with #FOSSY on the Fediverse. We'll
continue posting from https://social.sfconservancy.org/conservancy

A few other logistics notes:
  * You can find (or return) any lost and found items at the
    registration desk.
  * We have a sticker table upstairs with the booths. Drop off your
lonely stickers and come stock up for yourself!
  * If you ask a question during the keynote or a talk, you might be on
video. So be mindful if you are trying to avoid being recorded (even
if you are wearing a red lanyard)
  * Take a moment to refresh your memory about our code of conduct:
    https://2026.fossy.ca/attend/code-of-conduct/code
  * People are circulating the conference in bright orange hats if you
observe a code of conduct situation or if you need help of any kind.
The registration desk will also be available to help.

See you for the last day!,
-FOSSY Organizing Team
